One seat, two booking confirmations

Two people get the same cinema seat. Reproduce the bug, change one rule and test it.

Help fix the booking bug

You are helping a software developer investigate a fictional cinema app. Asha and Kabir both get seat A3. Make the bug happen, try one change and explain what your tests show. No coding knowledge is needed.

Supplied fictional records

Asha and Kabir both receive a confirmation for seat A3 at the cinema. There is only one seat. Help the developer reproduce the bug, change the booking rule and test the change. This is a small fictional app.

Explain what caused the duplicate, what your chosen rule did and what the two tests showed.

One case, one work sample

  1. Meet the problem
  2. Look at the booking problem
  3. Make the bug happen

Try both tests. Compare one customer booking alone with two customers booking together. Which test shows the bug?

  4. Change one rule and retest

Choose a booking rule, then run both tests again. You can change the rule and compare results. A failed test is useful evidence too.

  5. Write your bug and test note

Explain what caused the duplicate, what your chosen rule did and what the two tests showed.

  6. Compare and reflect

Compare your explanation with the example. You can return to change your work. Then choose what you noticed.

This is a fictional exploration activity, not a test of ability or career fit. Your choices are not saved.
